Enabling Internet Access to Files You Choose

Comcast Vault generates a unique and secure direct link for each file that is backed up using Secure Backup and Share. Such a link is known as a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), which is an address that specifies the location of a file on the Internet. Most of the time, you see a URL as simply a link to another page. After you generate a direct link, you can either bookmark it for instant access or share it.

To generate a secure direct link to a file, collection, photo album, or playlist:

  1. In Comcast Vault, open one of these pages:
    • Everything
    • Photos
  2. Right-click a file, then click Direct Link. The Manage Direct Link dialog box appears.

  3. Click Enable Direct Link.
  4. Click Send By Email to send this link in an email to your contacts.

When you enable a direct link to a file, collection, or photo album, it remains active until you disable it. Any new contacts that you specified in the email are automatically added to your Local Address Book.

To view all active shared links, open the Sharing Center and click Unlisted in the Access pane.

Note: You can also enable secure direct links for collections, or photo albums, and share them. For more information, see Sharing a File Using a Secure Web Link.
