Using Search Criteria to Create Smart Collections, Albums, and Playlists

To create a smart collection, photo album, or a playlist based on a search criteria:

  1. In Comcast Vault, open one of these pages.
    • Everything
    • Photos
    • Music
  2. In the Search box located at the upper right corner, type the search term. The search result is shown in the main pane.
  3. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Click the Search drop-down, then click Save Search.
    • Click and then .

  4. In the Title field, type a name for the new smart collection.
  5. In the Description field, type a short description for the smart collection.
  6. Select one of the following access permissions.
    • Public - Items shared as Public can be accessed by all. These files will be found by Web search engines.
    • Unlisted - Items shared as Unlisted can be accessed by all, but cannot be found by Web search engines.
    • Sign-Up Required - Items shared as Sign-Up Required can be accessed by guest users only after signing up with Comcast Vault.
    Note: Collections with music and video files can only be shared with guest users who have been invited using the Sign-up Required option. If you are creating a playlist from the Music page, you do not have the option for access permissions. In addition, music files cannot be downloaded or played from shared playlists or collections.
  7. Click Create.
A new smart collection with the name you specified is shown in blue in the Collections pane.

A Smart Collection Based on Search Criteria

For example, you create a smart collection named My Project based on a search for office files that contain the word client. Then you back up new files using Secure Backup and Share, including files named project_client.ppt and client_mar09.doc. Both these files are automatically added to the My Project smart collection.
