Tagging Files

A tag is a keyword or term assigned to files in Comcast Vault, which helps in sorting, filtering, grouping, and easy access to files. If you enter a tag into the Comcast Vault search box, all items with that tag are listed in the search results.

Tags can also help you create smart collections, photo albums and playlists. For example, you create a smart photo album named Vacation Photos based on a tag named Holiday. After that, you back up more recently taken photos with Secure Backup and Share. When you apply the Holiday tag to those new photos in Comcast Vault, the file is automatically added to the Vacation Photos smart photo album.

To tag a file:

  1. In Comcast Vault, open one of these pages.
    • Everything
    • Photos
    • Music
  2. Select the files that you want to tag, and then perform one of the following actions:
    • Click in the top toolbar.
    • Right-click the selected files and select Tag.
    The Manage Tags page appears.

  3. Type the new tag in the Enter New Tag field, and then click Add.
Tip: A tag can include multiple words separated by spaces. To enter multiple tags at the same time, separate the entries with a comma or a semicolon.

To remove a tag, click X next to the tag name in the Tags on selected files field.

All the tags associated with the selected files are listed in the Tags on selected files field.
  4. Click Close.

The files you selected are tagged with the tag name you entered.
